Pass the Cigars, Please

Well, here it is.  Friday, May 13, 2011.  This superstitious date marks the culmination of months of research and training, connecting and writing, second guessing and stressing out.  Today is the day that I finally reveal this new site of mine, Nichenista.  And with that, another new business is born.

The word, Newborn

With this post, my new business is born.

Timing is everything.

I subscribe to the ‘all things happen for a reason’ school of thought.  Not in the “God-plans-everything-that-happens-in-our-lives-down-to-a-”T,” way (He’d have to have one helluva calendar), but rather, the “there-are-forces-at-work-in-the-universe-that-we just-gotta-roll-with,” sort of way.

So, the other day, I received an e-mail from fellow Badass Business Woman, Jessica Kizorek, entitled, “Big Opportunity,” in which she posed the question, “Are you ready for the Big Opportunity?”

And as I read through it, my forehead began to bead up and I felt queasy because I knew I was NOT ready for any opportunity.  I was simply hiding behind the too-often-used “I’m going to launch my site, soon,” safety net.  I realized it was just time to stop getting ready to launch this site.

Jessica very tactfully reminded me that big opportunities will pop up, and if you’re not in a position to seize them, right then and there, you’re basically screwed.  And consequently, (my thought, here) probably filled with regret, remorse and self-loathing.

And who needs that  hanging around their neck like a big, fat ball and chain?  Not me.  I’ve got enough balls.  And chains.

Most importantly, though, I have  plans.  Big plans.  Plans to reach people.  Plans to help better their lives by showing them they DO have skills and life experiences and messages worth carving out – worth niche-ing. Worth building businesses around.

So, please join me as I take this giant leap of faith, and toss all that fear, uncertainty and trepidation about going “live,” out the window.  I’m birthin’ this thing and that’s all there is to it.

Whew…I already feel 30 pounds lighter.

And you won’t find me anywhere near black cats or ladders today.

Please say hello in the comments – I’d love to connect with you and hear your thoughts, your dreams and your plans for your future.

About Leah

I'm a social media and online branding junkie helping people be successful online. Armed with 20 years' marketing experience, I started Nichenista Media in 2010 for the flexibility I needed as a caregiver.
I share my home with a motley crue -a husband, two small children, my elderly mom and three dogs. It's completely insane most days, but there's never a dull moment. If I can ever help you, please drop me a line - I'd love to hear from you.

Lily, that means the world to me. Thank you so much. I think the society we live in is a much different place than it was, even five years ago. In light of these changes and the incredible opportunities I see every day, I’m driven to help others find their niche so they, too, can make a living doing what fulfills them.

I’m so glad you stopped by and I hope to keep in touch, my friend. If there’s ever anything I can do to help you, please let me know.

Again, thanks for your words of encouragement…
      Leah
